Excel/Powerpoint Linking Problem

So this is a little more of a powerpoint question, but since it relates to excel as well I thought I would give it a try here.

I am copying my charts into my powerpoint through paste link embedded chart object. This is easy to do and works. However, when I move the PowerPoint presentation to another folder, the links no longer are in the proper folders.

Folder Excel file is in:

C:\DeptData\Inv\InvPub\Andrew\MarketValueProject\Qtr-EndMarketValueProject.xlsm

Original Link:

C:\DeptData\Inv\InvPub\Andrew\MarketValueProject\Qtr-EndMarketValueProject.xlsm!724 - Allocation!R3C2:R37C14

Then I moved PowerPoint file to C:\DeptData\Inv\InvPub\Committee\Investment Committee\Qtrly Presentations\2009\

When I opened the file and went to the prepare edit links tab, it showed the link was a combination of the two:

C:\DeptData\Inv\InvPub\Committee\Investment Committee\Qtrly Presentations\2009\Andrew\MarketValueProject\Qtr-EndMarketValueProject.xlsm!724 - Allocation!R3C2:R37C14

Now, this makes no sense as there is no Andrew folder within the 2009 folder.

It should just be the same link as the original where it goes from InvPub to Andrew folder.

Is there any way to fix this error without doing it manually for each one? I'm sick of PowerPoint causing errors when there is a slight change. Also, should the excel file be in the same folder as the PowerPoint? I don't know why it would need that as I would think it could look up a file no matter where the file is located, but maybe that is one of the quirky things about PowerPoint.

Thanks for any help I receive and I apologize if this isn't the correct area to post.
