We have an Excel file stored on a network server that is accessed by multiple users throughout the day. Typically, if one user has the file open in read/write, any other user attempting to open it in read/write will get the " currently in use" prompt. However, just recently one particular user found she is able to open the file in read/write regardless of whether someone else already has possession of the file. She does not get any notification that the file is already in use. The result is the initial user is not able to save any changes made to the file if this happens. Additionally, any other Excel file she opens in this network server responds normally, so it appears to be an issue with the Excel file, not the server permissions. Currently the work-around is for her to ask everyone if they have this file open before she attempts to open it--not very efficient.
If anyone has experience with trouble-shooting this issue, please let me know. We are all using Excel 2010.
Thanks in advance,
Aaron
