Excel only showing 1 grid area

When opening old files or trying to open a new excel file, they all appear like the screenshot below. I don't know how to fix it. Please help!

looks likes you drug your formula bar down tooo far. hover over the horizonal line just above the letters until you see a double vertical arrow. Then click and drag the formula bar up the screen.
