I just hope the Calc. Engine grows respectively, I'm having visions of Spreadsheets crashing around the World!

About time too!

I wonder if there will be noticeable improvement in the calculation engine on older computers or whether they are presuming faster processor speeds to sort out the calculation nightmare of 1million rows of Vlookups!

Yeah, hope they do something about the speed, especially with array formulas.

Got a 40mb project management spreadsheet hooked up to financial statements to do forecasting and scenario analysis.

Takes almost a minute to calculate and upwards of a half an hour to run a full scenario!!!

Whilst an increase in the number of rows and columns will be universally welcomed, I wonder if users will default to Excel where previously they were forced into Access or other creative solutions given the row limit constraint will effectively disappear (for the average user anyway). We might see Excel used more frequently like a database, resulting in hardware upgrades to accommodate inefficiently designed spreadsheets. Over time we might see a lot more questions on the Excel board of the speed / size variety. We shall wait and see!
