I am learning Excel functions, and sometimes, it gets hard to figure out which function I need to use. Can someone suggest ways to determine what function is required for the problem?
Thank you
That is kind of a tricky question, isn't it? How can you know what you don't know?
The best thing is to really learn about as many Excel functions as you can. Or if you have a specific problem, do a Google search on it, and see what comes back.
If you do a Google search on "best books on excel functions", you will find many choices to choose from (I cannot really suggest one over the other).
Also note that Microsoft has detailed explanations and examples of all their functions, and these can easily be found with a Google search.
For example, if you search on "Excel xlookup function", here is the first match that comes back: XLOOKUP function - Microsoft Support
You could also use this link which lists all the functions in alphabetical order & with links at the top to get more quickly to a particular function by first letter. Excel functions (alphabetical) - Microsoft Support
