Excel Formula Connection

I pull several reports once a week and created a file with a ton of formulas to pull data from the reports. The reports must be open in order to extract the data. The report names are always the same as I use a macro to open the reports and then close them once the values have been calculated/extracted.

Can these formulas update without opening these reports? Every time I attempt to update, it says I need to locate the source file. Wanted to see if there was a better way.

Best way to learn Power Query?
Read M is for (Data) Monkey book by Ken Puls and Miguel Escobar. It is the complete guide to Power Query.
Guessing a bit as to what is being done. A better way would be to have the files set up like database tables - then files do not need to be opened (populating or reading) & (for routine operations) no formulas used in any files. If you had to delete data it might require file opening - though even for that there could be a solution without opening files. When you're new to this it is a bit to learn.
