Hi Everyone,

I am currently trying to use the excel forecast function to forecast for the blank years listed below. However, I am a bit stuck up on whether absolute or relative references should be used for the know X's and Y's. While I know that a relative reference should be used for the forecast years beginning in A5, I am not sure whether known X's and Y's should be relative or absolute. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

If you add a column that like my column A, you can use the TREND function like so:

Excel Formula:
=TREND($C2:C5,$A2:A5,A6:A11)

and if you were to forecast 2026 with 2025 data, you would change the formula to:

Excel Formula:
=TREND(C$2:C6,A$2:A6,A7:A11)
