Excel extracting data from other Excel spreadsheets

Hi All,

I have been asked to produce a spreadsheet that will extract data from 6 other spreadsheets and present the data in kind of a summary page.

Before I start the project I would like to check some possible problems:-

1. Does anyone know if extracting data from this many sheets is practical or will it slow down to a grind?

2. Also what would happen if someone had one of the six spreadsheets open elsewhere? Will it stop it all from working?
