Has anyone else run into this, or is this a known "feature" (i.e. bug) in Excel.

I'm working on a sheet and they want it in an Arial font. I use the arrow symbol "→" to guide users and like the one in here it's way too small for my taste. So, I highlight just the arrow while editing the cell and change it to a Calibri format and have never had a problem in the past. So one cell has text formatted in Arial as well as Calibri.

I will also will take some text that is in the same cell and make it smaller by highlighting a few of the words in the cell and change the font size for a cleaner looking way to note something.

I this happening to anyone else or am I doing something that isn't advisable or good practice?

Any comments are appreciated and thank you in advance for your time.

Cheers,

And do you do those operation by macro? Can you show the code?

No Vba. Simple Cell Text Entry. Like this: Total Item Desc. Here . It's that simple - not even a formula. I just go into a cell, highlight part of the text, change the font from Aerial to Calibri and reduce the size. I should mention it only seems to happen when using a symbol like →

That's why it feels more like an odd combination of circumstances that causes Excel to crash intermittently.

Thanks

I had thought of a situation of endlessly nesting events, till crash
I understand you do it using basic commands, that we use quite often
I tryed using the string "Total Item Desc. Here →" and a mix of formatting, without results.

I find quite strange the situation with the character "→", which is converted to Asci Code 63; however Asci Chr 63 is the "question mark" (?)... How did you insert that character into that string?
Could you try inserting it as a "symbol": Menu /Insert /Symbol; select font SYMBOL, then click on the symbol, Insert (there are too many "symbols", so refer to the pictures to see what I mean)
Then try again your format combinations to see if anything seem to change

First - Thanks a ton for looking into this. The way I've inserted the symbol is using the exact method you describe, "Menu /Insert /Symbol; select font SYMBOL". However, I got tired of that, so I did that once into a cell at the top of the sheet (together with some other arrows all in one cell". Then, when I need it I would go to that cell, highlight the arrow in the edit bar, copy, then past in the edit bar in the desired location. I'm not sure if that makes a difference, but that's how I've been doing it. The challenge with testing it is it only happens intermittently. I have yet to find a consistent set of actions that make this repeatable. So, I'm at a loss here and have simply made sure I save before doing this. Interestingly enough, it hasn't happened since I started doing that.

I have no idea what to do going forward other than making sure I save the file first.

Thanks for your time. Much appreciated.
