Having an issue with Excel crashing when Personal.xlsb is hidden.
I am currently running Office 2016 on Windows 7. Have several macros in the Personal.xlsb file that are hidden so when I open excel I get a blank sheet but can still access the macros.

The problem. I am switching to a new computer. Still running Office 2016 but now on Windows 10. Any time I hide the Personal.xlsb file excel will not open and gives me error:
Microsoft Excel has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Just give a Close program button.

Now as soon as I unhide Personal.xlsb file Excel will open but it opens the personal.xlsb file viewable.

Need some help getting it back to the way it was. Personal.xlbs hidden and excel opening to blank worksheet but still having access saved macro's.

Thanks

Excel Facts

Why are there 1,048,576 rows in Excel?
The Excel team increased the size of the grid in 2007. There are 2^20 rows and 2^14 columns for a total of 17 billion cells.
I've had to do this once or twice to fix problems like the one you've described:

1. Save a copy of personal.xlsb to somewhere else (just in case)
2. Export all macros in your personal macro workbook
3. With windows file explorer, delete personal.xlsb
4. Create a new personal macro workbook as described here:

https://support.office.com/en-us/ar...Workbook-AA439B90-F836-4381-97F0-6E4C3F5EE566

5. Import your macros back into the new personal macro workbook

It should work normally now.

So followed the directions and made a new Personal.xlsb file. Closed excel. Re-opened Excel. Crashed again.
Did not import my macros back in, just left the newly created personal.xlsb file alone.
