I am looking at customizing the chart templates for excel 2003. I have few questions.

1) In excel if I add an chart, it comes up with some default settings like borders, grey background etc.
How do I modify the template of each chart for multiple things like border, color etc, so that for the end user it will be useful.

2) How can I modify the list of the charts itself, like adding or removing a chart type/ chart sub type. Also like adding a tab if possible.

3) If I select a chart, the description is displayed in the below. From where it is displayed.

thanks in advance.

regards
Ganesh

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple
  1. Start by formatting an existing chart to your satisfaction
  2. Right click on the chart and select Chart Type from the pop up menu.
  3. Click on the Custom Types tab.
  4. Select the User-Defined option located below the list of chart types.
  5. Click the Add button.
  6. Type a name and description for your chart.
  7. Click OK and the chart's name appears in the list of user-defined custom chart types.
  8. Name the chart to something people will understand and they will be able to choose from the chart type menu

Just send an email with an attached spreadsheet. this will give every user the option to use this new custom graph on any spreadsheet. (user defined)
