Excel automatic numbering

In Excel when I filter my columns I cannot drag down numbers to automatically do the numbering. It changes the numbers 1 2 3 4 5 6 7.... to 1 1 1 1 1.....

Is there another way to do this?

Example: In my document I have 500 rows with different columns. I filter the one column to sort the different entries and then need to count the filtered items. Currently I copy and paste to a new worksheet to see how many I have of the specific entry.

Regards
Wilma

Round to nearest half hour?
Use =MROUND(A2,"0:30") to round to nearest half hour. Use =CEILING(A2,"0:30") to round to next half hour.
If the data is in a table, the number of filtered items should show in the status bar at the bottom. Is this not the case?
