Excel auto insert data from 2 different cells

Hi guys, im new here.

Im trying to make a receipt numbering system.

I want to take the surname of a client from a cell and also take the current date from another cell and then place them both in another cell.

Example: A1 surname A2 16.07.16
A3 would be surname 16.07.16

So every time i change the surname and date it will then automatically goto A3 for receipt number.

The ampersand (&) concatenates the cell contents and the formula then adds a blank space (" ") between them.
