I started getting a message "stldole" or similar when Opening Excel, so I uninstalled and reinstalled it.
It opens but doing anything with previously working workbook see Excel just vanish! I played around and
finally got an error message "Could not load an object as it is not available on this machine".
Googling this suggests it was COMCTL.OCX so I followed instructions for re-registering it (which reported success)
but the problem has not been fixed.
Anyone been here and figured out what's wrong ? Thanks . Using Office 2007 64 bit, Win 10.

You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK

The first thing to try is repairing the Office installation (via Word Options|Resources|Diagnose, or via Windows Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > Microsoft Office (version) > Change > Repair).

You might also run the System File Checker, via:
sfc /scannow
as an Administrator from a Command prompt to validate your system files.

Thanks very much for the suggestions. In the end I changed to Office 2010 which hadn't used (preferring 2007).
However that became a nightmare; although I had used it briefly a year ago (and uninstalled) it's key was now invalid. Long story short, it was
an MSDN Key/Version and should not have been sold. Ebay Or Amazon but I can no longer find the details. A scam obviously.
Maybe that mucked up the 2007 version, anyway I have bought a new one from "Digital Software Planet' in Aussie.
