Excel (and Office suite) 2013 dosen't retain files in the recent documents list

Hello.

I have tried to see if there is any way to get my lists of recent documents back - I think that they have disappeared as a result of running CCleaner and having the clear jump lists option on. I have checked that the number of recent files to be displayed is 25, and repaired the Office suite, but I can't get the recent documents lists back. I am running Office 2013 on a W7 pro machine.

Are there some registry settings that need to be altered? Any help will be much appreciated!

Excel Facts

How to total the visible cells?
From the first blank cell below a filtered data set, press Alt+=. Instead of SUM, you will get SUBTOTAL(9,)
I thought it just used the MRU position in the registry as a holder, CCLeaner would clean MRU, i presume you have tried to open and then alter an old file and then save it to see what is retained. Once you have cleaned though the list is cleaned

Hello.

Many thanks for your very prompt response. Yes, I tried altering an old file (and saved it, of course!) I also created a completely new file, but neither was retained in the list, and once again Excel said "You haven't opened any workbooks recently". Where am I going wrong?

Hello.

Thanks again for a wonderfully fast response. Yes, I did a full restart as one of the first things to try. (I turned off all the power, including the supply to the router. My wife was not impressed as I had forgotten to tell her!) Sorry to say it made no difference.

Regards

Hello
Thanks again for help - however the info in those two places does not give me anything new. Oh dear - it looks as if a complete re-installation is needed!

Once again thanks for your time.

Hello and thanks again again. Well, I uninstalled the Office suite via the control panel, and reinstalled it. Guess what - no change! I also cleared the jump lists, by removing all files in "%AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations", but again to no effect, but I noticed that files in that folder were being written so that Office was creating the jump lists. W7 and Office are current with all the latest updates.

I'm now losing hair rapidly!

that's supposed to remove office cleanly

I can't help thinking that there is a check box somewhere that is unchecked, and that is causing the issue.

Maybe an install run as administrator

I know this says word

but I have had settings that by adjusting in word fixes the rest of it

the other final thing that has come to my mind, delete the default file (in word it was Normal.Dot, that caused immense problems as it was holding all the "user preferences" not sure which is the excel one)
