I'm an experienced Excel user and troubleshooter, and I'm somewhat at my wits' end.
Symptom:
Click on many options in the Ribbon (most noticed, clicking on File) immediately pauses Excel and seconds later goes to not responding. I can replicate this on any Excel document of any version, as well as a new and empty Book1.xlsx. Can also replicate this opening any excel document (or new) in safe mode.
Does not recover from Not Responding state, and if I click in the window, it'll eventually crash and offer a debug, or restart. When it restarts, for the most part the auto recover is pretty good.
Troubleshooting Steps (thus far):
- Office Repair (online)
- Office Repair (Full)
- Disable all Add Ins of each type
- Complete uninstall, reinstall
- Disable hardware graphics acceleration
- Removed Printer, reinstalled
- Uninstalled, deleted all local office folders, reinstalled
- Changed multi-processor threading from all processors to 3/4, 1/2, 1
Luckily, I'm a keyboard guy, so I can avoid most clicks, but it is annoying (and worse when I forget), and I cannot think of anything else to try. Any thoughts on anything I haven't explored yet?
TIA
