Hi, new to the forum. I'm a long time Excel user but new to Power Pivot and the Power BI capabilities in Excel. Used Tableau at a previous job so I like BI tools. Two questions. 1) What are the different capabilities concerning Power Pivot / BI for Excel 2010 v Excel 2013? Would like to use heat mapping and similar functions but my employer has only 2010. 2) I want to learn how to use Power Pivot / BI functions in Excel. I learn best by working with examples, working through problems. Are there any local user groups that meet in Denver? I was involved in an MS Access group in Denver years ago and it was helpful. Thanks for your help!

Excel Facts

Why does 9 mean SUM in SUBTOTAL?
It is because Sum is the 9th alphabetically in Average, Count, CountA, Max, Min, Product, StDev.S, StDev.P, Sum, VAR.S, VAR.P.
The main difference between 2010 and 2013 is the addition of Power View. As far as "core" power pivot goes, I actually prefer 2010.

I know through powerpivotpro.com there are some "modern excel user groups", but no idea about the Denver area.

Thanks Scottsen for the response. I will look at powerpivotpro.com for groups. I'm not familiar with Power View, but I'm guessing that gives me significantly more capabilities?
