Excel 2013 File on Shared Drive With Macros Slowing Down Computer

My user has an Excel 2013 file with Macros (containing mostly links only) that has completely slowed down her entire computer after being open for a few minutes. The computer nearly freezes and she can't click inside any cells after opening it from a shared drive on the network. Her computer was re-imaged and this helped only delay the pain once the Excel file is opened. I don't know if this is a network issue or a software application issue.

Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this? What other details can I provide someone who can help? Thanks.

It depends on the macro and the contents of the sheet. There may be a macro running on open that's getting stuck. Or there may be a formula(s) that's taking up memory/processing in calculating.

If it's the first problem you may be able to break the macro with ctrl+break, and take a look into the macro/what's causing issues.
It it's the later then in the settings try turning off automatic calculations and look for the formula that's causing the problem. It'll likely be a lookup/array/sumif formula looking at a very large range such as entire rows/columns.

These are just shots in the dark. Kind of hard to diagnose based on your description alone.
