Hello All,

I'm on Windows 7 64bit, Excel 2010 32bit (organizational thing, unfortunately), PowerPivot 2, Version 11.0.5058.0.

I am regularly getting a greyed out PowerPivot launch button. To fix this, often I have to either wait, or sometimes delete the Vertipaq temp files, sometimes close and re-open. There is always something that eventually fixes it but it certainly is annoying. I did recently re-install PowerPivot and it seemed to have helped at first but I'm not sure.

Excel Facts

Add Bullets to Range
Select range. Press Ctrl+1. On Number tab, choose Custom. Type Alt+7 then space then @ sign (using 7 on numeric keypad)
The only thing I can concretely say here is that 32 bit is flakier than 64 bit. Also, before you launch, make sure you have no stray excel processes running (via task manager).

When I have extra hidden Excel processes Scott, which happens far too often in 2013, the Power Pivot and Power Query buttons are not greyed out, they are totally AWOL.

Yes. I thought that it might be that. I remember reading in Rob Collie's book that 64bit is more stable which makes sense. I could probably get an upgrade but I want to experience and document issues that others in our organizational may encounter who are unable to upgrade at this time.

This is certainly happening sporadically. One thing that happens consistently is the Power Pivot Field List doesn't update when I add a calculated column (or make some other change) to a table. But it will then update if I create a copy of the worksheet in that new worksheet. Very annoying but I can't seem to get around it.

Thanks.
