Excel 2010. combining duplicates then deleting.

hi im conducting a stock count.
Column A consists of a list of the barcodes I've scanned.

in column A there is sometimes more than one of the same barcode when i have more than one of the same product. is there a way of deleting duplicate barcodes in column a and replace them with a 'Quantity' column?

Hi,

Yes there are ways to manually or automatically (using VBA) to delete the rows, but you might be able to use "Pivot Tables" to get the same result.

Here is an example you describe with multiple bar codes where I've set up a Pivot Table to count how many times a bar code shows up (your quantity):

If you are not familiar with Pivot Tables, they are worth learning about as they easily summarize and count data once you know how to use them. And, they are easier than learning VBA.

An idea for you anyway.
