Hello,
I have a bunch of .xls workbooks created originally with Excel 2003, that are now running in Excel 2010.
All of the series names in the charts were hardcoded, i.e. ="Sales" or ="Units Shipped", etc., and the x and y axis point to named ranges.
However, now when I go into the graph sheet prior to loading data, all the graph's series legends are missing the labels (they just show the marker example). Right-clicking the graph and choosing Select Data shows a bunch of <BLANK series><BLANK series>, and clicking Edit shows the Series Name completely blank! The X-axis and Y-axis still correctly show the named ranges on which they are based.
These workbooks have a data worksheet, and a graph worksheet. The data worksheet starts out with just some column headers. Then data is splatted into the area below the header upon running a command.
When I put the data in, the Series Names are now back--the hardcoded ="Sales", etc, are there. There is *no* code whatsoever that does any graph manipulation. None. The data is splatted and that's it.
This phenomenon did *not* occur when we'd view the blank sheets in Excel 2007 or 2003. We just got Office 2010 and we're just now noticing this. It's as if the hardcoded series are hidden somewhere and onlyl show up when data exists. Again--did not happen in Excel 2007.
Can anyone tell me what may be causing this odd phenomenon?
Thanks,
Jombi
