Don't Want to remove Excel 2007 and second laptop still need excel 2003 plus it already has SQL server 2005 and Visual Studio 2008 can't really handle anything else.

Fastest way to copy a worksheet?
Hold down the Ctrl key while dragging tab for Sheet1 to the right. Excel will make a copy of the worksheet.

Why would you want to have more than one version of Excel on the same machine?

I think I tried it once and I didn't like it - nor did my computer or Excel.

I know I'll eventually have to upgrade from Office 2000, don't laugh that's what I use and I have no problems with it.

When I tried a beta version, or was it a trial version, of Office 2007 it almost killed all my files.

Mind you I'm a bit of a luddite and probably did something wrong.:)

In theory you shouldn't have a problem. I have Excel 2003 and 2007 and now I've installed the beta 2010. I haven't noticed a problem generally, even if I have them all open at the same time.........

Hi Norie,

i like to keep up with verisons i would love to install it on ibook but vba is not supported anymore from excel 2008 upwards (last time a checked) although thinking of setting up shadow system on ibook but ideally want only use pc's instead,

i did have office 2003 and 2007 installed on one machine (can only use one outlook app) but the only problem was personal macro book startup file was in same location so both would try to load it so just changed file path worked ok. Only reason i removed office 2007 cos got new laptop and also had issues with vb.net when trying to set excel as object

think will just download it and try the worst thing can happen it doesn't work and just format laptop again

thanks

P.S think its about time you upgrade lol bypass office 2003 if you can and download Toolbar Toggle add in to change menus if you don't like ribbon

I probably wouldn't mind upgrading, but do you realise how much these products cost?

Also, like I said the last time I tried any sort of upgrade I almost lost all my files that were created in earlier versions.

Oh, and computers just seem to die on me - I've got a laptop now but I've also got a defunct desktop sitting in the corner.

Died just before Christmas.

It's got a few thousand files on it and quite a few apps as well that I'd love to get access to.

I know how to get them but I just can't be bothered right now.:)

Don't start me on modems, routers, printers etc.

know the feeling but i got around that problem by saving my office work stuff on live mesh and just sync with new machine but didn't have as many as that

if you wish i could help you out with that. cos i work for health service (we are biggest public section service in uk - NHSD) i can get office enterprise 2007(no project app but got the main apps) for £8.95 but i never did download it cos i already paid like £250ish for full verison. if you want i can send you the mail i got from Microsoft

its not spam and its offical verison i can send it via pm or mail address your call

Thanks for the offer but I think I'll just stick what I've got just now - seems pretty stable and hasn't been causing me too many problems.

Plus I wouldn't like to see you possibly get into any trouble, especially if you work for who you think you work for.

I've got relatives that work in that field, friends/relatives/myself that have been helped by the people in it and worked in the organisation myself.:)

FWIW,

A colleague of mine installed the Office 2010 beta alongside an Office 2007 installation. When he decided to uninstall the beta:
Nightmare! Nothing from Office 2007 worked properly. An attempt to repair Office 2007 hung after four hours and I had to import the (Outlook) PST file to a laptop so that I could recover the data after restoring Windows to a time before the addition of Office 2010. That restoration took three house (sic) to complete and changed a lot of files, but completed successfully. Background process to clean up the system took overnight to run and only now, some two days later do I appear to have a working system again.
My additions in italics.

I had 2003, 2007 and 2010 beta on my laptop and uninstalled the beta (to install the latest build) without issue. As a general rule though, I prefer to use a VM for multiple versions of Excel, mostly because of the automation issues. (was also very handy with the Tech Preview version of 2010 which knackered the macro recorder!)
