Office 2010 has introduced the 'Backstage View' which seems ok, except a couple of points.

If you want to see your recently used workbooks - you have to turn this feature on (it's not automatically on).

Once you have turned it on, you can only see approx. the 1st 18 characters of each file in the list. You have to hover to get a balloon for the full name.:(
Else you have an extra keystroke to go into the 'Recent' list.

I normally use the 'recent' list for 90% of my file access, setting it to the max of 20. (I like the 'pins' introduced in 2007 to keep files in the recent list and not drop off)

Adding an extra keystroke to get to the file list seems a backward step. Anyone else think this?

On a positive note, the increased speed for large files is good, and the improved accuracy of things like 'CONVERT' is great.:)

Easy bullets in Excel
If you have a numeric keypad, press Alt+7 on numeric keypad to type a bullet in Excel.
I haven't tried 2010 yet but that would be annoying. However, Windows 7 gets around that issue because you can pin applications to the Start menu, and each application gets its own Recent Files list.

Yes, found that. Actually quite like Windows 7.

Have pined Excel, and quite a few other programs, to the Start menu (like this feature). This is good for files I haven't used in a little while.

Habit I guess, when you are in excel, prefer just to click Alt+F, then #
Otherwise need to click WindowsKey, arrow down to Excel, then across, then scroll again...tedious

Is there a way to get Numbers to come up on the Start Menu?

Did you ever get an answer? I found the keystrokes Alt, F, R brings up the numbers. It's another keystroke, yes, but at least they are keystrokes and not mouse clicks.
