Excel 2007. Saving a 3 MB file

My new hardware has a Pentium 2.4 core 2 duo, 4 GB RAM (!), 10,000 rpm harddrive.

Whilst amazingly fast now with Solver (at last) it is slower than my old Pentium 600 (!) at saving a 3.04 MB workbook, taking about 17 seconds.

I feel I must have some Save setting incorrect.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated

Format cells as currency
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+4 to format cells as currency. (Shift 4 is the $ sign).
Sometimes saving in compatibility mode will slow you down. I think it depends on the features used in the workbook.
I wonder if the Solver is different?

What is it like at saving in native 2007 format (.xlsx or .xlsm)?

I found recently that a HUGE workbook (300MB) saved just fine in 2007, whereas 2003 would have struggled just to open it.

Very many thanks.

Currently in Melbourne, away from my PC. Back Tuesday 22nd.

It's just as slow in xlsm

How do I not save in compatability mode. In fact. I realise, I am unaware what compatability mode is.....

As we both appear to live in Sydey, I give my number, EDIT: removed phone # - you can PM it if needed - Moderator, I would welcome a call anytime from the 22nd onwards.

Regards and thanks again
