Recently switched from Excel 2003 to 2007. When updating pivot tables, I get error "Cannot open PivotTable sourcefile "drive
ath\[filename.xlsx]Detail". The file being opened is listed in the correct path and I have permission to open it. If I have the file in question opened while doing this operation it works without error. The problem is I have many users wanting to update data from this common and sensitive spreadsheet and don't want them opening (and potentially breaking it). They do have rights to see the data.
