I have created a standard column chart in
excel and customized the legend (by deleting a series label) and
pasting over this chart into Powerpoint (Paste Special).
Unfortunately the changes made to the legend in excel are not
maintained in Powerpoint. Can you please help? Is this a bug?

Thanks,

MD

Excel Facts

Formula for Yesterday
Name Manager, New Name. Yesterday =TODAY()-1. OK. Then, use =YESTERDAY in any cell. Tomorrow could be =TODAY()+1.
If you are using Office 2007, I recomend you to create your table directly from Powerpoint; when you are skipped to excel to enter data, you can just copy from your date source and paste it in the new excel window opened by Powerpoint when creating a chart.
The formating process is exactly the same as in Excel...

I think this would be one option but I would like all my charts driven from a single source (Excel) as opposed to two different sources. Are there any other recommendations which would allow me to create teh table in excel and copy it over to Powerpoint and still maintain changes made in Excel?

I'm sorry, I'm a french speaker and I don't know automatically the corresponding functions in english, I hope I can still be of help!

  • After copying your chart in excel,
  • In PowerPoint, Use then Paste Special ---> Tick the 2nd option after Paste (in french: Coller avec Liaison)
Any changes from Excel will change your chart in PowerPoint

I've come across this issue before as well... The solution I used was pasting the chart as an image (jpg).. You won't be able to manipulate it in powerpoint, but it will keep all of your changes. To do this, and I'll translate the french reply(sort of).

Paste Special, and pick what type you want... I prefer JPG. and it will paste an image instead of the actual graph.

Hope that helps.
