We have an Excel file that has not reached any limitations that I can find. However, after saving it about twice (we've had it recovered by network guys a few times), the error occurs again. We can work in it as long as we want, saving along the way, but when it is closed, it will not open again. We receive the error "Microsoft Excel has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." It gives the option to recover, but when we try, it comes up without formatting. Formulas remain but no formatting.
It is not that large of a spreadsheet. It is happening to all the ones created from a single source. However, not all of them are having the problem.
Also, you are able to open it in Excel 2007 after this happens. However, we need it in 2002, and Excel 2007 can not save it as a 2002 file either.
Any ideas?
