Evaluate if cell's formula references another column

I need to paste over cells in a range that refer to columns other than the ones they are contained in their formulas Or formulas that refer to another book using VBA.

For example if the formula =A1+B1 is in column B I need to paste over that while skipping over the formula =B2+B3.

Also if the formula is [A.xls]!A1+B1 i need to paste over that while leaving =B7*B6. Basically I need the portion of the IF statement to evaluate the cells contents. I think I can search for ']' to handle this part.

I'm looking for something like this:

If cell.value = unknown test if refers to another column OR cell.value like "*[*"Then
paste etc...

Any help would be appreciated.
