Working from a 2015 macbook pro, excel 2011, a file I use daily suddenly gave me an error I recall having seen some years ago, but can't remember how it was resolved; "The Workbook you opened contains automatic links to information in another workbook".
I don't recall copying/pasting to/from another workbook, have tried searching, advanced, for ".xlsx", ".xls", "[" to no avail. Tried breaking the link in edit-links, no luck, tried searching for the file name in the links window, I'm at an impasse. The file is stored in google drive, and have been working from the drive for about 1 year without complications.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

I just had a slightly similar problem recently. Mine was self inflicted as I had just merged two spreadsheets into one, and I did it on Win7 using Excel 2010. I tried the same searches you did with no luck. However when I went to save the file, Excel again prompted me that the file contained links to another workbook AND it allowed me to see the references so that I could figure out where they were in the file. This is an area of Excel that Microsoft still need to work on a bit. Good Luck.
