Error On Analyzing With Excel

I have reports written in Access that look really nice. The customers want these reports in Excel rather than Word, so I click Analyze With Excel in the Report Toolbar. Easy enough, but under my Teams column in Excel, many have been converted to a number format. I have two Team Types, A and B teams, which look like 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b, etc. Interestingly enough, only the A teams get converted to the number format (always between 0 and 1; ie .75, .83333333, etc.) I've tried to format this column as text, but since it's already been imported, it doesn't alter the data. Any help?

Excel Facts

VLOOKUP to Left?
Use =VLOOKUP(A2,CHOOSE({1,2},$Z$1:$Z$99,$Y$1:$Y$99),2,False) to lookup Y values to left of Z values.
Once the data is in Excel, format the column to Text. Then do the following:

1. Highlight the column you wish to change
2. From the Data drop-down menu, select "Text to Columns"
3. Click Next two times, until you hit Step 3
4. Select "Text" under "Column Data Format"
5. Click finish

This should convert everything to text.

Nope, still doesn't want to convert it. It seems that somehow the data coming out of the Team text box on the report is being converted to a number before it is put into Excel (again, not all the data, just certain ones). I think that I'd have to fix this in Access before Excel, like maybe format the text box a certain way, for this to work, but as to yet I've figured nothing out.
