I am having an issue with the size of a spreadsheet.

The spreadsheet is about 8.4 MB, but I don't know why.

The spreadsheet contains 8 relatively small tabs.

I have already done all the column and row deletes of unused areas, as well as clear contents, just for good measure.

All the CTRL+END commands bring me to exactly where they should.

Granted, the spreadsheet has a a lot of COUNT, SUMIFs, and VLOOKUPS (within the same spreadsheet), but it still seems much larger than it should be.

Any suggestions?

Excel Facts

What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.
There is 1 more thing you can try:
Copy all 8 worksheets to a new workbook and compare the file size afterwards. The quickest & easiest method:

1) Click on the 1st worksheet tab.
2) While holding the SHIFT key down, click on the very last worksheet tab. This will select all 8 sheets.
3) Right click on any one of those worksheet tabs, then choose "Move or Copy...." from the context menu that pops up.
4) Then follow the screenshot.

One quick question:

Is this a workbook that you created using one of the more recent versions of Excel? or was it a workbook that was created from long ago using Excel prior to 2007?
