A friend sent me a file to open for him. The file extension has now become like this:

Book1.docx.nakw

From his end, he inserted a flash drive into his system and all his files got the new strange file extensions.

I have come across such situations, mostly when I send an unzipped workbook through WhatsApp.

How I solve that is to send a zipped one to replace the first.

With this new situation, the there is no original file to do that.

No backups too.

I tried to change the extension from the properties menu but that just rendered the file unusable.

Does someone know how to resolve this?

Thanks in advance

Excel Facts

Round to nearest half hour?
Use =MROUND(A2,"0:30") to round to nearest half hour. Use =CEILING(A2,"0:30") to round to next half hour.
It is a ramsomware; google search for "remove NAKW ransomware"

Bye
