Enabling/Disabling macros: risks involved

The default setting in my Excel2007 is to disable macros with notification. So when i open a file with a macro, it gives a security warning that macros have been disabled and gives and option to enable macros. The other options in trust center setting are:

Disable macros without notification
Disable all macros except digitally signed macros
Enable all macros

Is there a way I can modify the setting such that the macros in files with macros created on my computer are automatically enabled, while for the files coming from other sources it disables the macros with notifications??

Also I do not understand what can be the risks with enabling all macros. Can anyone help me understand that without a lot of reading involved ?? :stickouttounge:

Best way to learn Power Query?
Read M is for (Data) Monkey book by Ken Puls and Miguel Escobar. It is the complete guide to Power Query.
Firstly, no, you can't modify the Excel settings.
Secondly, Macros are VBA code.
If someone sends you an eMail, spreadsheet, etc with macros attached, they can contain viruses, or code that can damage your PC.
So, You need to decide which emails, spreadsheets you want to open, and ensure that they do not carry a virus.....hence the Excel settings.

You can set up trusted folders on your computer - any file in there will open without the security issues.
