Embedding Binary Data Into A Workbook

I can embed a workbook or any file into a workbook by inserting a package. However, I don't know how to get to the contents of some of these files. You can easily get a reference to a workbook or any file that has an associated exe that opens it. However, if the file you store in the package does not have an associated exe, how do you get to its binary contents? For instance, a dll file? If this is not an option, what other options might there be? Currently, I story the ASC value in cells and simply recreate the file using a bit array. This is fine for small files but for larger files, I am hoping to find out a better way. Some avenues that I have already been down as far as storage containers. Textboxes in userforms, cell comments, workbook names.

Any others that I have not considered? Thanks and Happy New Year.
