We have excel spreadhseets stored in Sharepoint with user access set as "Can view - cannot make any changes". Those spreadsheets are embedded in a PBI app (uploaded into the PBI folder and added to the app). The pivots can be manipulated in the app by each user but we can always reload the default saved position. All good.

HOWEVER - using pivots within the app is clunky (eg in expanding rows) so the tendency is to "edit in excel". When you do this the default position is that automated saving is turned on and any changes made DO SAVE TO THE ORIGINAL FILE. So the default position is lost and I have to manually put the files back to the previous day version at the end of every day. Which is not sustainable.

What am i doing wrong????
