Editing cell contents in unlocked cell in protected sheet

Hello,

I have a sheet which is mostly driven by VBA routines. The sheet normally runs protected with certain cells unlocked so the user can insert data into them. My problem is that once data has been placed into these unlocked cells, the user can no longer press F2 or click on the data to eit it. The whole contents get replaced by the new data.

It doesn't seem to matter which of the protection options I select (Contents, Objects, Scenarios).

Am I missing something or is this a known problem?

Thanks,

Adrian
