Editing a protected spreadsheet

I have a table that I want to stay locked at all times due to other people having access to the table. The other people can edit certain parts but I don’t want them changing the cells with formulas. One of the columns they can edit by entering data will not let them change the color fill of the cell because the sheet is locked. How can I keep the sheet locked and protected but also allow them to change the color fill of the cells that they can edit?

Excel Facts

Test for Multiple Conditions in IF?
Use AND(test, test, test, test) or OR(test, test, test, ...) as the logical_test argument of IF.
When you protect the sheet there is list of things you can allow. one of them is format cells.
