EDI (96A) ERROR (not Excel related)

Any EDI monsters in here?

I receive daily IFTMIN messages, but from time to time my translator gives an 'Invalid Type ALPHANUMERIC field' error and indeed the FTX+ART field has a pipe symbol in it while only letters and numbers are allowed.

I have been looking into the sender that generates the IFTMIN and in the database-field no pipes are to be found. The pipe arrives somewhere in between their export-server and my import-server.

Any ideas will do because for the moment we are only guessing and blaming each other for the mistake...
