e-Mail reminders from a closed Excel Workbook

Dear all:

I have written a function and entered it in a cell, which will check, say, the time in cell A1 (entered using Now() function) is greater than 17:00:00. If yes, the function will send out an e-mail to me.

But, my problem here is, the Excel sheet needs to be recalculated / refreshed everytime, and it should be open.

I would like the function to fire on itself without me having to open the workbook.

Can anybody please help me with this.
