Dynamic Graphs

Hello

I have a worksheet which is used to analyse exam results for students.

There are about 10 tabs each showing different analysis based on source data.

The problem I have is that it is set up for grades A, B, C, D, E, F, G... and sometimes I will have exams with different grading (i.e A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, B3 etc)

I'd like a way to dynamically update these tables and graphs if and when these exam grades and parameters change. So I have an input sheet where the grades and grade ranges are entered.. but how can I make all the graphs and analysis change automatically? I've looked at examples on dynamic graphs (insert table function) but these only work if the changes are made directly into the one table... it doesnt quite work if there are multiple tables and graphs...(or at least I dont know how to make it work)

Hopefully you guys will have an answer :) I look forward to hearing from you

Regards
A

Excel Facts

Convert text numbers to real numbers
Select a column containing text numbers. Press Alt+D E F to quickly convert text to numbers. Faster than "Convert to Number"
Have the tables read from the master list, not the charts. You may need to convert tables to ranges to do this, but it's worth it.

Well, if you have set up tables, I don't think Excel will let you edit the headers, but if you want to read the grades from a master sheet into those headers, then you will have to convert the table to a range. Sorry - not easy to explain, but I've had to do it myself where I want table headings to be dynamic.

Hi. Thanks can you give me a quick example of what you mean by convert table to a range?

Sorry if it's a dull question...:)

By doing this, you will be able to populate the range headers using a formula that references your master sheet. Let us know how you get on!

Hello

I dont think the headers were causing me too much grief.... the tables (and therefore charts) don't flex up or down should I want to change the grades.... so If originally I had A,B,C,D,E,F,G and I want to change this to A1, A2, A3, B1 - The linked tables (and subsequent charts) need to flex down so that it only accomodates 4 grades as opposed to 7

Any thoughts?
I wish I could attach my document on here to better explain it.
