That's one way of approaching this. The other is to leave your original data and create a make-table query. In the design view, click on properties (make sure you don't have a field selected (click in the gray area hosting the tables), and select yes for the unique value field.

To find out if you have Duplicates, go to your Queries tab, click on New query, then use the Find Duplicates wizard to see if you have any. Then you can use the method above to delete them if there are any.
