Morning all,

Got a bit of an odd one, I've had a trawl through the
archives and can't find anything quite applicable...

What I'm after is a drop down that contains the options:-

Live
Completed
Re-Diarised

However, these need to be just the drop
down options and independant of the Cell contents.
What I need them to do is control the back ground colour
and change it as appropriate.

Live = Green
Completed = Blue
Re-Diarised = Yellow
Or someting like that :-) They'll argue about colours!

The Cell will contain a name / number as a Text string
if that helps, although could be General if required.

Any help appreciated, I don't like to think I'm a complete
numpty, but, this has got me stumped.

Thanks in advance all..

Thanks Steve....

That's what I initially though, however, I can't
see a way of tying it just to the drop down and not
the cell contents.

Maybe I should have clarified, I don't want the cell
to contain what's in the drop down. In fact I need it to retain
it's contents I just need a drop down to control the cell colour.

Now I can use the Formula is, but, that doesn't give me a
drop box option, just to apply a cell reference.

Unless of course I'm missing something

Hummm..

Good question, that's open to requirements...

I've tried mucking around with validations and lists
to get the drop down in the cell, although, I must admit
to floundering around a bit.

As far as I can see you can't divorce the list / validation
from the cell contents. I may be on a hiding to nothing.

Thanks for the help so far!
