Downloading Old Podcasts

I use a Mac. I recently reinstalled OSX & realized then that I had not been backing up my podcasts. I lost ALL of my Mr. Excel podcasts prior to mid-June of this year. I have tried downloading them one at a time into iTunes, but this is extremely time consuming. In addition, once I got to Episode 114, they switched from being simply ".mp4" files to ".mp4.mpg" files, which iTunes will not open up.

So, my questions are these:
(1) Can you do anything to facilitate a bulk download of an entire series of podcasts?
(2) What should I do about the "mp4.mpg" files?

Not sure what you mean by "mp4.mpg" Is that the actual file ending??
If so, maybe its a matter of shifting the " . " to ".mp4" and deleting the remaining "mpg"?

...otherwise, if it's a matter of converting to mp4:

There is a free program called VLC Media Player (just google it). I use this program to convert audio and video. It works pretty good, quality is better than average and...well, it's free - not to mention that it converts a lot of formats both audio and visual.

As for bulk downloads...I don't know bout that.
