Scenario I have a current list of names which are entries for a national 8Ball tournament. I have a list of names with a ranking I am trying to establish what each players national ranking is & who is missing from the list and as yet doesn't have a ranking. The problem I have encountered is that it picks up most of the names but some that are present get missed and I cannot find a difference in the text. I have checked for extra spaces etc there aren't any. It has me baffled.

both sides have to be free of additional spaces and spelt the same, I can't remember if it is CASE sensitive.

VLOOKUP is not case sensitive.
One thing that catches me is if the lookup_range uses relative referencing and I drag it..... oops.

What is the formula that is bringing you inconsistent results?
