Does Excel (Office 365 version) have a bug when working with Find-Replace at the moment?

Hi everyone,

I'm working with a large volume of data and at the end of a series of simple formulas (example of formula is =AVERAGE(C141:C171)*1000) I have "*1000". I was able to highlight a series of formulas in a row yesterday and add that to each formula using the Alt-E-E (or Control-H) function as I always have used.

Today, when I highlight a range of formulas and search for "*1000" and aim to replace that with nothing (So I leave the replace with box blank) the whole formula is removed.

I also tried replacing the "*1000" with "" in the replace with box but the entire formula is then replaced with "".

Is this a setting I have inadvertently changed somehow by accidentally actioning a shortcut or is this a bug?

Thank you in advance :)

Excel Facts

How to total the visible cells?
From the first blank cell below a filtered data set, press Alt+=. Instead of SUM, you will get SUBTOTAL(9,)
You need to find ~*1000 that means it will look for the * as text, rather than a wildcard.

Welcome to the MrExcel board!

Just to add to what @Fluff has said.
Nothing has changed in relation to this.
* has always been a wild card standing for any number of characters from zero up
A similar situation exists if looking for a ? as that is also a wild card - standing for a single character only. Again, to search for a text ? you would also use ~? in the Find box.

I Understand. Something so simple yet I've been sitting here for over an hour thinking I'm going mad. Thank you for your time on this too! :)
