Displaying Timesheet Data as Gantt Chart (or equivalent)

Hi All... First post, be patient... And kind...

I have a spreadsheet with what is essentially timesheet data... Start, End Times... Duration (a calculation)... A "Task Description"... A Date (And other pertinent stuff in the row)

I would like to display this data as essentially a "Gantt Chart", but spanning only a single day (Is there a more correct term for that?)... I have found ways to insert a Gantt-like chart and such... And if the start and end were dates, those would work perfectly...

But what I am trying to do is to display, for a specific day (a filter I can apply, or frankly for what I want, tuned to Today()), activities on a single bar/line... In particular (since this is "my" timesheet data... And I am a contractor...) I am looking for a Visual way to identify overlaps (Yea!) and gaps (I hope I can figure out what I was doing during this time period, but didnt record)... On any particular day...

(If you are familiar with it, think of an Outlook Calendar, the "Single Day" display... Or (if you were scheduling a meeting), the Scheduling page...

Being able to identify a "task" by Description would be a bonus (given the data, the task might be harder to display unless angled away from the timeline...) And I dont really care about the Task Description for what I want to use this "chart" for...

Because of certain other constraints, my "Start" and "End" data is a tenth of an hour... If that matters...

Being able to apply other filters would be a bonus (I have other columns in the spreadsheet... Client, Type of Task, Invoice Number, etc... But most of these span the entire timesheet (a year's worth of data, eventually) and the "Date Filter" would then be key, if the visualization is going to mean anything...

Thanx for any ideas...

Ideas?

Excel Facts

Which came first: VisiCalc or Lotus 1-2-3?
Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston debuted VisiCalc in 1979 as a Visible Calculator. Lotus 1-2-3 debuted in the early 1980's, from Mitch Kapor.
I think that overlays are a problem in an one bar/line chart.

Is this similar to what you are envisioning?
