Convert text numbers to real numbers
Select a column containing text numbers. Press Alt+D E F to quickly convert text to numbers. Faster than "Convert to Number"
How about Tools, Options and check Formulas in the Window Options on the View Tab.

pressing the Ctrl key and ` (next to the 1 key and above the left Tab key) will toggle this view on and off as needed.
