How does one keep your formula in one cell, but display it in a separate one for eg. 2 cells away?
Even one cell away would be fine.

Excel Facts

Create a chart in one keystroke
Select the data and press Alt+F1 to insert a default chart. You can change the default chart to any chart type

Welcome to the MrExcel board!

To me, this is unclear. Can you spell it out in more detail and perhaps give some specific example(s)?

I have my formula in cell B6 but want to display its result in cell D5.

I want to be able to repeat this with several rows worth of formulae

Why not just have cell D5 as =B6?

If you don't want the formula to be visible, you can always format the text to match the background. To prevent anyone from writing over the "blank" cell, you can protect it... or if all your formulas are in one column, just hide the column.

Thanks, that'll help.

Another query: Can one set up a formula to run when you type in the required number into its cell?
eg. insert 12 into B1 (cell also contains formula) which then runs the formula?

If you type 12 in B1, it's going to overwrite the formula you already have in place.

You could have B1 as a place to do entry with the formula in C1. You could make the result invisble till you had a value.

For example... in C1 you would enter something like:
IF(B1=" "," ",FormulaInvolvingB1).

As long as there's no value in B1, the IF returns a blank to cell C1. As soon as you enter a value in to B1, the IF should give you the value of FormulaInvolvingB1.
