disappearing 0

Hello,
I was given a sheet to use where you can enter a zip code to generate location.
The problem I have is that when I type a zip code beginning with 0 in disappears.
The other problem is that the sheet is protected and the cell is locked so I can not change the format to a text. Please help.

Try entering your zip code by preceding it with an apostrophe, like this:

'01234

you'll need to unprotect the sheet first to do anything useful !!!
and we can't really help you with that.
