Hello,

Long time reader to these forums but first time poster.
My question is, is it possible to disable merging cells in a workbook? I have a workbook created that is to be used for data entry only by the end user but some users have taken it upon themselves to merge some cells which messes up the vba coding that I have to auto fill some data. Is there a easy solution through excel or even through VBA?

Any help here would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for you time.

Click the italics "fx" icon to the left of the formula bar to open the Functions Arguments dialog. Help is displayed for each argument.
If you don't want any merged cells in your worksheet at all. Select the entire worksheet, hit CTRL-1. Click on the Alignment tab.
It will probably, show a blue box in Merge Cells.
Click this twice to change it to a checkmark, then nothing.
Click OK.

Thanks for your quick response.

I can remove the merged cells as you have described. What I would like is to make it so that a user cannot merge cells after I have given them the template to fill in. Some people do not listen to instructions on how to use the worksheet and start modifying it. Is there a way to protect the sheet so that users can enter data into the cells but not modify the structure of the worksheet?
